Switch from ITAS to ITAP Easily

If you're a foreign national currently holding an ITAS (Temporary Stay Permit) in Indonesia and looking to stay longer, you might be eligible to convert it into an ITAP (Permanent Stay Permit). This guide explains what you need to know about the process, requirements, and timelines to help you make a smooth transition.

Who Can Apply for an ITAP?

Foreign nationals who hold an ITAS can apply for an ITAP if they are in Indonesia for purposes such as:

  1. Working
  2. Religious duties
  3. Investment
  4. Family reunification
  5. Repatriation
  6. Second home arrangements (including retirees over 60, individuals with special skills, or notable figures)

The application must be submitted at least 30 days before your ITAS expires, so it’s best to start preparing early.

Who Can Submit the Application?

The application to change your status from ITAS to ITAP can be submitted by:

  1. You (the foreign national)
  2. Your sponsor
  3. A responsible party acting on your behalf

The application should be addressed to the Head of the Immigration Office where your current permit was issued.
